Using Genotyping and Phenotyping Together
Recently, the practice of using both genotypic and phenotypic testing together has been found to be the most effective way of measuring drug resistance. Instead of choosing one test over the other, both are used together in a complimentary way. The idea is that a combination of both pieces of information can provide the most comprehensive picture of HIV drug resistance.
Some healthcare providers had been ordering both tests to assist in particularly difficult cases, but now both tests are being used more routinely for patient management. Monogram researched the use of phenotyping and genotyping together and offers a combined phenotype/genotype test called PhenoSense GT™. To learn more about PhenoSense GT, click here.
