Treatment History
Treatment history is a fairly straightforward aspect of the treatment continuum. When making treatment decisions it is very important to consider drugs taken in the past and the duration for which these drugs were used. The value of treatment history, in combination with resistance test results, was demonstrated in the TORO trials for Fuzeon where treatment-experienced patients were prescribed optimized regimens based on these two pieces of information. Of note in these trials, was that heavily treatment-experienced patients benefited from optimized regimens with and without Fuzeon. However, patients taking Fuzeon did have greater drops in viral load and increases in CD4 counts.
