GeneSeq HIV Assay Overview
While genotypic testing is an indirect measure of drug susceptibility, it remains an important methodology in the analysis of HIV
drug resistance. As a research-based company, Monogram has built up valuable experience in the study of HIV drug resistance. The results
of this experience have demonstrated that in order to have a complete understanding of the drug resistance characteristics of HIV, one
must become familiar with both the genotype and the phenotype of the virus. GeneSeq™ HIV is a product of this research and remains a
mainstay technology for Monogram. GeneSeq HIV is available as a single assay or in the combination assay PhenoSense GT™.
GeneSeq HIV features and benefits:
- Utilizes a regularly updated algorithm based on published scientific research and proprietary information from Monogram's extensive phenotype-genotype database
- Over 99% reproducibility
- Can be performed on samples with viral loads as low as 500 copies/mL
- Sensitivity to detect mixtures as low as 10% of the total viral population
- Custom software and at least two clinical laboratory scientists analyze every position of the nucleotide sequence
- Includes HIV-1 subtype reporting
